Emily Gresh received her training at the School of the Hartford Ballet and the School of American Ballet. Emily joined Boston Ballet in 1989 and was promoted to the rank of soloist in 1995. During her years at Boston Ballet, Emily danced a full breadth of classical and contemporary roles; favoites included Ashton's Monotones, which she performed as a young corps de ballet member in her second year of the company, as well as many of the works of Balanchine and Petipa. Several Raymonda variations, the pas de trois in Sleeping Beauty, Lilac Fairy, and the corps de ballet of the white acts of Swan Lake remain particularly dear to her heart, along with Nutcracker favorites of Snow Queen, Dew Drop, and Sugarplum Fairy. Emily also danced in contemporary works, helping originate a role in Merce Cunningham's Breakers. She danced in works by Twyla Tharp, Bill T. Jones, and Mark Morris. Following her dance career, Emily moved to Connecticut and earned degrees from Trinity College and Yale University. She lives in West Hartford with her husband Michael Currier, and daughter Elodie, and works in non-profit admistration. As avid cyclist in her spare time, Emily is also a writer and occasionally teaches dance.
